Introducing Peckham Pantry
Peckham Pantry – Peckham Park Road
Introducing Peckham Pantry, a sister project to Southwark Foodbank at Pecan. It is a membership scheme community shop aiming to offer dignity and choice for its members, providing support to people on a low income or people recovering from crisis.
Peckham Pantry has been running for 18 months at St Luke’s Church. Its success together with the demand for more of this service led to the shop development at Peckham Park Road. This move will allow more people to access a vital community service.
A community shop where local residents can become members and access a range of services. The pantry will also offer fresh and healthy food for less.
- Members pay £4.50 for each pantry shop visit
- Healthy Start vouchers accepted
- Pantry members can pay with cash or card
- Opportunity to meet new people or become a volunteer
The pantry can help those who are struggling financially to access healthy foods for less so they can budget to cover other essentials. Members can reduce their shopping bills and access a choice of healthy foods. A local pantry can help to alleviate food poverty, promote social inclusion and have a positive impact on mental health.
