We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director of Music for St Faith's, Fiona Fraser.
Fiona began her musical education as a chorister and organ scholar at St Andrews Cathedral, Inverness. She then went on to study Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews, whilst holding both organ and choral scholarships. While completing a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at Jesus College, Cambridge, she sang with Trinity College Choir. An experienced consort singer, Fiona has sung with ensembles including Siglo de Oro, Tenebrae, Alamire, The Marian Consort, Sansara, ORA, Polyphony, The BBC Singers and the Choir of the Enlightenment. Recent solo work includes Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Pärt’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s St John Passion and Bach’s B Minor Mass. Fiona is also a music educator, having worked as an Artist in Residence for Ark Music and In-Schools Programme Manager for Pimlico Musical Foundation. She is now acting Curriculum Manager and SEND and Early Years Lead for Southwark Music Service.
She writes:
"I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as Director of Music and to be joining the community of St Faith’s. I have lived nearby in South London for nearly ten years now, and look forward to working locally in this brilliant area. I am excited to contribute to the musical life of the church and to begin working with the choristers of the Children’s Choir, developing further enriching opportunities for them. I hope to build upon existing connections with local schools and organisations as a means of bringing the local community together through shared musical experiences. I can’t wait to meet everyone, get started and join St Faith’s."
Please pray for Fiona as she prepares to begins her work here in just a few weeks' time, and for the parish as this exciting new chapter begins.
